Call for action on babies damaged by mothers drinking
The Age (Australia) ran an article entitled “Call for action on babies damaged by mothers drinking” which reports that “many children are misdiagnosed with attention deficit disorders, hyperactivity and autism.” One woman had to travel to Canada to have her son diagnosed with foetal alcohol syndrome after Australian doctors could not explain his violent, suicidal behaviour as a teenager. “This is happening all the time and kids are getting labeled louts and delinquents and criminals when they've got significant brain damage," she said. Nine articles ran on this story that covered the misdiagnosis of ADHD.
